Welcome this Wednesday, 08 September, 2010 to our Autumn issue of the WELL newsletter

ummer is over! Sorry if that statement has caused you to have a bummer of a day, but it is and we need to press on into the fall season.
Left behind, at least until next year, are those hot, lazy days of summer where your schedule was often your own and your general sense of being was 'what doesn't get done today can always be done tomorrow ... or next week'.
For those who can manage it, summer is the time to take the kids camping, or go as a family on extended holidays. For others, low on the holiday schedule pecking order, it is work as usual but with a determination to squeeze in the traditional summer fun anyway.
For all of us, however, the end of the Labour Day long weekend brings some degree of regret. Regret for the things we didn't accomplish, people we didn't get to see, and places we didn't get to visit. I had a few of those regrets myself, along with saying my final farewell to my father-in-law. He was a wonderful human being and friend to many. It was often said by those trying to characterize John's 90 years with us — “a life well lived and a man well loved”.
As we press on toward winter (do we have any other choice), I find joy in the fact that every season has its own beauty and uniqueness as well as challenges. This gift we have called life is to be enjoyed, to the fullest.
In her book, Where the Mountain Casts its Shadow, Maria Coffey writes,
Ask mountaineers why they climb and invariably they say that it makes them feel alive. It allows them to live in the moment. Ask those bereaved by climbing accidents if anything positive has emerged from the tragedy and, in one way or another, they usually echo the climber's sentiment. If they love someone, they tell him. If they have a gift to give, they give it now ... just in case. They take nothing for granted. “I can tell you what Death has taught me,” says Terres Unsoeld, “It's taught me to hold on to life and make each moment count. I started living life with a vengeance.”
We don't need to be climbers or be touched by the death of a loved one to take stock of our lives (although often the latter pushes us to do so). This season, be grateful for all that you have and be determined to not only live life well but to help others do the same!

WE ARE TRYING SOMETHING NEW! Those of us at Speakwell Solutions (and we invite you to join us) want to do things well. In all that we do and in all that we are, we strive for excellence and wellness. We will be the first to admit that we often fail in reaching our goal but we continue to strive, nevertheless.
The person who succeeds is not the one who holds back, fearing failure, nor the one who never fails ... but rather the one who moves on in spite of failure :: Teddy Roosevelt
To that end (that of living WELL), we are offering our version of Live WELL cards. Blank inside, our aim is to give you images that evoke feelings of peace, relaxation, beauty or simply speak to the idea of Living WELL.
Each set of 10 cards (with envelopes) will reflect 5 images (2 cards of each image), and each set will retail for fifteen dollars. More sets will be added over time so please check back on a regular basis.

As always, we welcome our new readers! We trust you will find our newsletter both informative and fun and please know that we encourage contributions of material from all of you.
Have a wonderful Fall season — especially the Thanksgiving weekend.
