WELCOME this Saturday, 04 February, 2012 to our Spring issue of WELL
I think that no matter how old or infirm I may become, I will always plant a large garden in the spring. Who can resist the feelings of hope and joy that one gets from participating in nature's rebirth? :: Edward Giobbi
Make you feel like doing a little gardening right now? Click on the picture of the old gardener, and then click-drag your cursor around on the black background of the window that pops up. Your garden will be virtually blooming before your eyes!

It's spring fever. That is what the name of it is. And when you've got it, you want — oh, you don't quite know what it is you do want, but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so! :: Mark Twain
For many, and that includes me, spring is the favourite season. I love to see flowers poking up through the dirt from their winter hibernation and see trees in bloom. I love to hear birds in song and watch little lambs exploring their pasture. I love the hope and new life that spring offers and the chance for a clean slate, as we get excited about another year.

The Speakwell family has experienced some of its own growth these past few months. We welcome into our fold Hudson William Dyke, born on super bowl Sunday to proud parents Rob and Johanne. He is a grand little fellow who is delighting his parents to no end. We wish Rob, Johanne and Hudson a fabulous first year full of health, growth and amazing discoveries as they begin family life.

Also joining our team is Caitlin Mason, PhD.
Dr. Mason brings to Speakwell her expertise in the area of Physical Activity Obesity Epidemiology and will be our Director of Corporate Health and Wellness. She is an excellent speaker and has much to offer large companies and organizations that are trying to grapple with and understand this complex area.
Olympic Pedometer

THE STEPWELL PEDOMETER (H-215) has been graced with the logos of major companies, universities, school districts, hospitals, provinces and, of course, by Speakwell (who has the exclusive distribution rights in Canada for the H-215). It is fair to say, however, that no logo has delighted us more than the 5 Olympic rings that will soon be featured on the Stepwell pedometer. The ActNowBC branch of the B.C. Government has placed a major order for the Stepwell pedometer (shown above) branded with the Inukshuk Vancouver 2010 Olympic symbol, the Paralympic Games symbol and the Provincial logo. The pedometers will be used as part of an initiative to make British Columbia the fittest jurisdiction in North America. There could be no finer legacy from the 2010 Games than a fitter, healthier populace, particularly our children.
The old saying goes: "Build a better mousetrap and the world will beat a path to your door." We didn't build the H-215, but we did our due diligence in researching a robust, accurate and affordable pedometer and have helped in its evolution. (Peter Mason and Rob Dyke of Speakwell will be in Taiwan meeting with our manufacturers this month). So when the world does beat a path to British Columbia in 2010 they just might notice a surprising number of pedestrians, many of them wearing Olympic pedometers, and we at Speakwell will be very proud!
